Earlier this year I had an interview for my Masters Degree at Plymouth College of Art. I built myself a portfolio filled with my favourite work from the past 3 years, and the work that I would like to be doing in the future.
The interview was very successful and it helped boost my confidence with my work. It also helped me to realise what I needed to work on more - theory isn't one of my strong points and it is something I will need to improve on.However, I did enjoy being able to talk about my work in depth, and to someone who hasn't seen my work before. I was able to show them my style and talk about my work ethic and organisation skills. This was also very useful, as I was able to tell them that during the start of the year, I could very easily build a new diorama and then photograph them each week.
I spoke about a range of projects -
2017-2018
Exploded Image, Small Worlds & City Limits and my two exhibitions, Interdisciplinary and Economy.
2018-2019
Weird & Wonderful and Manifesto.
2019-2020
PHOT301 and PHOT302.
I also spoke a little about my GCOP200 essay and my Dissertation, as well as my inspirations for my current project.
As well as this, I spoke about some of my commercial work to show that I am able to find time to photograph events etc, as well as my fine art work and that I am not limited to just one thing. I thought it would be a good opportunity to show which photographers, artists and inspirations of mine that I have contacted over the past 3 years. I did this to show that I am able to make connections within the industry and conduct short interviews.
Finally, I wrote about my future plans and projects. Although these may change soon, this is what I want to be doing in the future - creating exhibitions and my own work, I would love to sell my work and it hold a proud place in people's homes, to me, to have my work in someone's life would feel like a huge accomplishment.
